Andreas Gursky, Oceans series, 2010

Very big prints show the earth's oceans. The parts of land surrounding the water are the continents, but they are arranged formally rather than geographical. The images are composed of high-resolution satellite images. Satellites are not interested in oceans, therefore the oceans where filled in digitally. The image has both the nature of a picture, a data-package and a painting.

Hans Op de Beeck, Sea of Tranquillity, 2010

Is a very special short film (30min) where one can witness a night on a luxurious ocean liner. The exhibition consists of a film and also of beautifully crafted objects, sculptures and paintings, which can be seen in the film. The beautiful Jazz song brings you into a reverie about how people try to shape there lives, but stay lonely in a designed and super-clean world, surrounded by an endless digital ocean.

The exhibition is still open at Argos until april 2.
Read a video-interview with Hans about the piece.
